Stuartholme School

As one of Queensland's leading secondary girls' schools, Stuartholme School in Brisbane wanted its prospectus to stand out from the crowd. The brief was for a quality coffee table-style book that told Stuartholme's story in images rather than pages of text. The result was a finalist in the Australian Catalogue Awards and a contemporary marketing tool that successfully combines striking photography and succinct messages to capture the spirit of the school and its Christian philosophies.

Developing an understanding of the school involved extensive interviews with students, parents, teachers and staff that explored the qualities that make Stuartholme the preferred school for so many Queensland families.

The school is part of the world-wide Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. While observing the Society's 200 year old founding principles, the school prepares students for the challenges of today's world. An holistic approach to education focuses on developing young women of character.

Bold black and white images successfully capture the collective character of the school. They span facing pages throughout the oversized A4 prospectus - each photograph reflecting the joy of youth and accompanied by a headline that delivers simple, strong messages to the reader.

The use of uncoated paper adds to the artistic, textured feel of this unusual school marketing brochure. However, the use of superb colour photography on selected pages of coated paper, including a fold-out centre spread containing an overview of the modern curriculum and school facilities, provides an interesting contrast to the predominant design approach.
