Client Case Study
An archive of stunning colour photography was the catalyst for a memorable brochure created for Architectural Timber Joinery (AT Joinery), a Brisbane company manufacturing high quality custom-made timber doors, windows and entries. The enormous potential of the images was instantly recognised, taking brochure design and production to a level that took everyone, including the client, by surprise.
It was clear that the original client idea of a DL brochure would not do the photography justice. Their treatment called for a bold approach that allowed the images, almost entirely on their own, to showcase the natural beauty and versatility of timber and provide a hard-to-resist argument to architects and the discerning home renovator to engage AT Joinery’s specialist knowledge and skill.
Printed on high quality paper, the vibrant photographs come alive… so much so that the reader can almost feel the varnished sheen of the timber on each full-colour page. The text is minimal; but what is there strongly aligns to the images. The message throughout is unmistakeably one of quality workmanship and timeless styling.
This brochure won Highly Commended in the Australian Catalogue Awards, demonstrating the importance and impact of professional photography in creative design, and proving that quality printed documents remain relevant despite the advance of e-communication tools.
The brochure concept was so successful that it was adapted for the company’s website upgrade in 2010.
